William Brian Hibbard is a professional painter and sculptor who his actively a part of the growing art scene in North Carolina.  Born and raised in South Carolina he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting from Winthrop University. Hibbard’s artwork can often be seen in the regions most prestigious homes, galleries and public spaces. 

In 2000, Hibbard moved to Greensboro, North Carolina from Santa Fe, New Mexico and began working as an apprentice to a nationally recognized sculptor.  His first public art project was in 2001 when he designed 40 panels for Greensboro’s Millennium Gate as well as working on the fabrication and installation. By 2003, Hibbard completed a public art mural in Black Mountain, North Carolina paving the way for his own business. 

 The year 2004 started with an article in Southern Living and a One - Man Show “How I See It” at the Greensboro Artist League featuring over fifty new paintings.  Hibbard completed two murals for Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and Natty Greene’s Restaurant by the end of that year.   In 2005, he installed three gates and two bronze plaques for Greensboro’s new baseball stadium. 

Brian has received notable attention in several articles written about his work.  Orson Scott Card wrote, “Brian Hibbard’s landscapes have an interesting palette of muted colors and copper.  His trees and clouds are rimmed with a slight shadowing that is at once representational and yet theatrical.  I fell in love with all of his work.”   Carol McCreedy wrote a wonderful article about him entitled Renaissance Man in Triad Living during the summer of 2005.  She writes,” like most of his work, Brian Hibbard’s paintings stay with you.  The images he creates will forever be ingrained in my mind.” 

In the spring of 2006, Hibbard installed a 9’ x 22’ mural that overlooks the new Center City Park in the heart of downtown Greensboro.   Recently, Hibbard has completed a large mural project for the Greensboro historical museum.  William Brian Hibbard’s work can be seen at one of his numerous solo exhibitions or at his studio at Lyndon Street Artworks in downtown Greensboro.  William Brian Hibbard currently shows his work in 14 galleries across the nation.   He has collectors in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Massachusetts, and New York.
